It is only wholesome when,

In the mirror of the soul of the human being,

The whole community takes shape,

And in the community,

The strengths of the individual soul lives.

We raised approximately $2700 for the evening which will go towards our development application costs as well as our school registration. Please keep track of our fundraising on the Financial Goals tab on our website. It is very exciting to see the numbers rise as we continue to work towards our financial targets.

We reduced the price of various merchandise for the Quiz Night evening also, so now is the time to get that EP Waldorf merchandise if you have had your eye on it! Please get in touch to see what is available.

We have a number of fundraising activities coming up, including a Bunnings sausage sizzle this Sunday the 30th! We also have a number of others booked in for the rest of the year and invite you to put your hand up to volunteer at one or two. They are fun, engaging and on average raise $700 for our initiative. A total win-win if you ask me! If you can’t volunteer please come out and buy a sausage instead to show your support.

Our next major fundraiser is the Spring Festival celebration which will be held later in the year. Plans are already underway. It is going to be big, as we do not seem to understand how to make fundraisers small…but once again we invite you to please get involved as we will need as much support as possible. More details to follow as they emerge.

We are also on the lookout for volunteers to run a couple of bottle runs (on a roster system) throughout the year. We would provide the list of addresses, you will just need a trailer and car.

We have asked that all families who are interested in enrolling their children into either playgroup or the school should our doors be open in 2024, to please complete their expressions of interest on our website by the 28th July 2023. This information will directly affect decisions regarding composite class numbers, teacher requirements, classroom sizes and various other integral decisions. If you do not complete a form, we will not factor your child into these equations. Both playgroup and school EOI forms can be found on our website.

While you are on our website, we ask that you please spend some time looking through the information we have available. There are details on our initiative but also Waldorf Education more widely.

Last week we met with the Education Standards Board (ESB) who advised us of the process forward. I will not lie, it is a huge process but not insurmountable, we can and will do this! The board will continue to focus on collating the registration application, including a huge 26 standards, all of which have their own policies and procedures under them! We will also be working towards forming a financial plan that will incorporate the enrolment EOI we have received to find the correct and viable financial path forward. All of this information will be used to assess our suitability for school registration as we continue to find our interim school home.

As you can see, the board is focusing on three main goals; financial viability and stability, interim school home and registration. Quite simply, we are using the next six months to dig deep and focus on these three pillars as a matter of priority.

Lastly, the board has been given feedback recently regarding our lack of communication to the wider community. I think it important to share here that we have heard this feedback and we hope that by providing a monthly blog, hosting the MGM’s and being completely transparent on our website and socials that we can alleviate people's concerns in this space. Please do keep in mind, we are a board of five mothers who all have small children. We are juggling a number of priorities and are always seeking and asking for further community engagement. We are truly working hard in the background to build this school and will continue to share as best we can.

I hope to see you at the next MGM, which will be held on Monday the 21st August at 10am in the Library. Everyone is welcome!

Until next time, stay warm and bring on Spring!

Much love as always,

Renee
